Minister Toews will meet with major investors and fund managers to tell Alberta’s story and encourage them to support Alberta’s industries. Alberta’s balanced budget, significant tax advantages and wide-ranging efforts to cut red tape make our province an attractive place to invest in.

“This trip is an opportunity to meet with key players, including CEOs, wealth managers and innovators specializing in various sectors of the economy. I will be showing major financial decision-makers what they stand to gain from getting on board with Alberta’s rapidly growing economy. In turn, increased investment and job creation will mean more opportunities for Albertans.”

Travis Toews, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance

Minister Toews will be in New York City from March 9-14 and will be accompanied by two staff. Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.

Alberta is one of the most affordable provinces in Canada to live, work and do business. In particular, costs for housing, food and transportation tend to be lower here than in other parts of the country. This lower cost of living, combined with relatively high average earnings and the lowest overall taxes among the provinces, means Albertans and businesses keep more money in their pockets.

Alberta’s economic growth will be at or near the top of all provinces for the next several years, and corporate profits are set to rise along with energy and other commodity prices.

The Alberta government is committed to working with its national and international partners to advance shared interests that can lead to new opportunities for people and businesses in Alberta and around the world.

Following New York, the Minister will travel directly to Toronto to meet with bond rating agencies to discuss the fiscal progress Alberta has made since 2019.
