“October is Child Abuse Prevention Month. No child should have to live in fear or suffer in silence, and every one of us has an important role to play in making sure kids are safe. By learning to recognize the signs of neglect and abuse and by reporting your concerns for a child’s safety, you can make a positive impact in the life of a young person.

“Children’s Services is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Alberta’s children and youth and we look to families, teachers, caregivers, medical professionals, community group leaders and other members of the public to help protect the children in our lives.

“If you see something that doesn’t seem right or that causes you to worry for the safety of a child, reach out and report your concerns.

“To report a concern about the safety or well-being of any child or youth, please call the 24-hour confidential Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-387-KIDS (5437), or contact a local Children’s Services Office, Delegated First Nations Agency or police.

“Together, we can make a difference for a child in need of help.”
