“It is a day to reflect on the history that culminated in the birth of the independent nation, and on the more than half a century that has brought Pakistan to where it is today.
“The nearly 30,000 Albertans of Pakistani heritage have bolstered our province's collective social and economic strengths. These neighbours, colleagues and friends are a part of what Alberta is and how it will continue to grow.
“All Albertans value the principles of self-governance and the freedom to pursue our own opportunities and interests. I wish everyone of Pakistani heritage the best as they celebrate Pakistan Independence Day.”
