“Rural Health Week is a time to celebrate the enormous contributions of rural health-care providers and community volunteers who enhance the quality of life in rural Alberta.

“Rural health-care providers have special relationships with their community. They provide quality, compassionate care to their friends and neighbours, while building stronger communities.

“Particularly during this very difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic, rural health-care providers are true heroes who are going above and beyond. They are dedicated to improving rural Albertans’ health and well-being and continue to make tremendous personal sacrifices to help fight COVID-19.

“Rural Health Week is also an opportunity to recognize local volunteers who support health care and health-care providers in their communities. Their selfless volunteerism does so much to improve the health and wellness of rural Albertans.

“This week, I encourage rural Albertans to do something special in their communities to salute the health-care providers and volunteers in their area.

“On behalf of Alberta’s government, I send a sincere thank you to all rural health-care providers and community volunteers for improving the quality of life in rural Alberta and helping to build a strong health system. Your efforts are very much appreciated. Happy Rural Health Week!”
