Description: This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. Woodlands County has issued a Flood Alert for an area along the McLeod River.

Rising waters on the McLeod River are causing overland flooding in near Whitecourt. Water levels are expected to rise and peak in the evening, June 20 potentially leading to further flooding. No evacuation is required currently.

Area: This alert is in effect for everyone 500m of the McLeod River and from the McLeod River, north to Twp Rd 594, in Old Ferry Loop.

Affected areas (2):

  • Whitecourt
  • Woodlands County

Action to take:

  • Everyone in the affected area must prepare to evacuate with 1-hour notice
  • Gather pets, important documents, medication
  • This alert will be updated if an evacuation is required
  • Stay tuned to www.alberta.ca/emergencyalert, local media for updates • Avoid the area • Do not bypass or move barricades • Do not travel through water covered roads, use alternate routes
