Description: Alberta Emergency Alert: Overland Flow Flood Alert Updated

Update – Overland flooding continues to be an issue throughout Yellowhead County especially in the Niton Junction and Carrot Creek area. A new area of flooding is happening in low-lying areas along the Lobstick River to the east, and the Chip Lake area as water flows towards the Pembina River, and anyone living near the area should be cautious of flooding near their location.

Dangerous driving conditions are reported on: - Township Rd. 532 west of Range Rd. 125 - Old Carrot Creek Highway between Range Rd. 140 and Range Rd. 141 - Range Rd. 135 North of Township Rd. 540 - no vehicle exit for residents - Niton North Road south of Township Rd. 542 - Niton North Road south of the railway crossing - Township Rd. 542 west of Niton North Road - no vehicle exit for residents - Range Rd. 135 south of Township Rd. 534 More available at https://www.facebook.com/yellowheadcounty/ Facebook page.

Action to take:

  • Avoid travel on the impacted roads
  • A reception centre has been set up at the Multiplex in the Hamlet of Peers for people who cannot return to their homes or are displaced
