History:

Description: Alberta Emergency Alert - High Water Level Alert

Lower areas in both Eating Creek and Marten Beach are experiencing flooding. Residents are advised to seek appropriate accommodations away from effected areas.

Due to rapid changes with respect to Eating Creek, residents are advised to leave their properties within thirty minutes before egress is washed out. Road access is deteriorating. The level of the Marten River is rising due to heavy rainfall and log jams and is causing localized flooding. Be cautious of rising water levels and take appropriate precautions. Residents are advised to seek accommodations outside the flood area or at a local hotel. Visit www.mdlsr.ca for more info.

Action to take:

  • Prepare for possible evacuation
  • Be aware of areas known to flood easily such as streams, drainage channels and canyons
  • Move to high ground
  • Leave the area if it is safe to do so
  • Avoid rivers, valleys and low lying areas
  • Follow the directions of local authorities.
