History:

  • Alert: May 27, 2018 at 09:19 PM

Area: Rocky View #44

Description: The McLean Creek area wildfire is 16 km south of Bragg Creek. It is growing and moving slowly, and there is no immediate danger to Bragg Creek area residents or need for them to evacuate. The situation is not expected to change overnight or into Monday morning.

The McLean Creek wildfire is now approximately 100 hectares in size and located about 16 km south of Bragg Creek on the east side of the Elbow River. The fire is not yet under control, but it is currently growing and moving very slowly in a north-easterly direction. There is no immediate danger to the Bragg Creek area and no need for evacuation. There is not expected to be much change to the situation overnight or into tomorrow morning. Rocky View County recommends that when residents retire to bed this evening they ensure their cell phone does not go into night mode so that it can continue to receive Safe & Sound and Alberta Emergency Alert/Alert Ready messages in the unlikely event the situation does change. Safe & Sound messages are also sent by land line, e-mail, and text message if residents included those contacts when they signed up. Due to the slow-moving nature of the fire, it is anticipated the next update will be shortly before noon tomorrow (Monday, May 28).

Instruction: Follow the directions of local authorities. Avoid the wildfire area.
