Highway 1 from the City of Calgary east to Bassano has been closed by Alberta Transportation due to hazardous road conditions, because of recent snow and ice in the area. The public is advised to stay indoors in this area and to avoid travel. A number of communities have opened reception centres and a list can be found on the Alberta Emergency Alert Public Webpage.

List of Emergency Shelters: Strathmore Recreation Centre, - 120 Brent Boulevard, Strathmore, Alberta Gleichen Community Centre, - Gleichen, Alberta Cluny Community Centre, - Cluny, Alberta Luthern Church - 112 Lakeside Boulevard, Strathmore, is offering shelter for travelers with pets. Further updates will be provided on the Wheatland County Website www.wheatlandcounty.ca and Facebook.
