Description: Alberta Emergency Alert - Wildfire Alert - Waterton Lakes National Park
There is a serious wildfire which has the potential to affect the community of Waterton. There is a voluntary evacuation for Waterton Lakes National Park and the community of Waterton effective immediately. Cottagers, campers and visitors are encouraged to leave the area.
All trails and park waters in the park are closed. Only the entrance parkway and the town site remain open. A reception center has not been established but will be established if the situation worsens.

Action to take:
- Follow the directions of local authorities
- Leave the area if it is safe to do so
- Highways 5 and 6 and the Chief Mountain Border crossing remain open
