Description: Alberta Emergency Alert - High Water Level Alert

There are elevated water levels in streams, rivers, and other bodies of water that may create dangerous situations or lead to flooding. Alberta Environment has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the Athabasca and McLeod Rivers and their tributaries, including those in the Whitecourt area.

The Rivers are nearing peak flow levels. The access road to the local River Boat Park has been closed.

Action to take:

  • Be aware of areas known to flood easily such as streams, drainage channels and canyons
  • Avoid rivers, valleys and low lying areas
  • Follow the directions of local authorities
  • Take all necessary precautions
  • Listen for further updates and follow the instructions that apply to your area.
