D'Arcy DePoe
D’Arcy DePoe has been appointed to Provincial Court, Edmonton Criminal. He is a graduate of Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law and has specialized in the area of criminal law since being called to the Alberta Bar in 1981. He has extensive trial experience in criminal legal matters and is a longtime advocate within his community and the legal profession. His experience includes being a member and past president of the Criminal Trial Lawyers’ Association. He has also taught the Alberta Bar Admission Course and at Legal Education Society seminars and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Alberta Law School.
Michelle Doyle
Michelle Doyle has been appointed to Provincial Court, Edmonton Criminal. She received her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta and became a member of the Alberta Bar in 1995. Since then she has been a Crown prosecutor, most recently serving as Chief Crown prosecutor in the Edmonton office of the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2014. Her volunteer experience includes collaborations with law enforcement on various projects related to policing and public safety as well as work with organizations such as the Zebra Child Protection Centre and the Edmonton Sexual Assault Centre.
Jasmine Sihra
Jasmine Sihra has been appointed to Provincial Court, Northern Region. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (with Distinction) from the University of Alberta in 1989. In 1993 she received her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Laws degrees (combined program) from the University of Alberta. She became an Alberta Bar member in 1994. She has practised law in Grande Prairie in a range of areas, including criminal, family, real estate and corporate law and served as a Crown prosecutor since 2007. In addition, she has taught law and business classes at Grande Prairie Regional College.

Candidates for Provincial Court appointments are screened first by the Alberta Judicial Council and then interviewed by the Provincial Court Nominating Committee (PCNC). The PCNC provides its recommendations to the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General.
The Alberta Judicial Council has representatives from the Alberta Provincial Court, Court of Queen’s Bench, Court of Appeal and the Law Society of Alberta. It also includes two individuals appointed by the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General. The Provincial Court Nominating Committee has 11 members representing the Alberta Provincial Court, the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association - Alberta Branch, and representatives of the province’s legal community and the public appointed by the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General.
