Albertans at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio

“The past 12 days in Rio have been amazing to watch, and I am so proud that Albertans have been at the centre of a number of Canada’s stories at the 2016 Paralympics. Canada’s first medal at the Paralympics was won by an Albertan, and an Albertan made it to the podium at the end of the first paratriathlon in Paralympic history. At the end of the Games, Albertans had contributed to Canada’s impressive 29 medal count.

“The Paralympics, like the Olympics before them, have proven that Alberta’s athletes are extraordinary. Whether they were born here, or have come here to live and train, our athletes are among the very best in the world. They are a testament to Alberta’s fearless spirit, our determination and our love of sport.

“Congratulations to all of Alberta’s athletes, coaches and support staff who represented Team Canada at the 2016 Paralympic Games. Your names have been added to Alberta’s distinguished sports legacy and we are proud of your accomplishments. We wish you all the best for your continued success, and look forward to seeing many of you represent Canada again in 2020.”
