As part of the Family Violence Framework, the Alberta government is investing $3.5 million in one-time funding to support programs that protect women and girls, Indigenous, immigrant and rural communities, as well as programs targeted at men and boys.

“Albertans want to live in a province where everyone feels safe. Our government is committed to taking action against violence and working closely with our community partners to improve access to programs and services that help vulnerable Albertans. By working together and supporting each other, we can break the cycle of family violence so women, children and families have the resources they need, and a place to turn for help.”

Irfan Sabir, Minister of Human Services

“One of our government’s top priorities is ending violence against women and girls, and I’m proud to support the community agencies at the front line of that work in Alberta.”

Stephanie McLean, Minister of Status of Women

“Everyone benefits when fathers are actively engaged in the lives of their children. We know young fathers need supports and services so they have the tools to parent and co-parent well. We are grateful for the Government’s support for the Fathers Moving Forward Program since there are few community resources for young fathers.”

Patricia Jones, CEO, Catholic Family Service, Calgary

Family and Community Safety Program funding was increased by $10 million as part of Budget 2015. The government is investing in programs throughout Alberta to support 13 new projects and 17 extensions to successful programs that were announced by the government last September.
