Advisory Council on Alberta-Ukraine Relations

Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk

Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville on April 16, 2019. Prior to serving as an MLA, she owned and operated a small business in Vegreville. Competencies required for members of the Advisory Council on Alberta-Ukraine Relations include business and management experience and knowledge of Ukrainian language, culture and history. Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk was directly recruited and appointed on the basis of meeting the competencies, skills and attributes as described above.

Ivor Bernatsky

Bernatsky is a second-generation Ukrainian-Canadian. He received his M.Sc. in Agriculture from the University of British Columbia in 1990. Bernatsky became a Certified Management Consultant with the Canadian Association of Management Consultants in 2013. Ivor Bernatsky has extensive contacts in the agri-food industry and has a thorough understanding of agricultural trends and issues. He also helps non-agricultural Alberta businesses and organizations market themselves to their local, national and international customers.

Andrew Boitchenko

Andrew Boitchenko is currently a Director at the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and has over 20 years of experience in residential and commercial real estate. He attended the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Competencies required for members of the Advisory Council on Alberta-Ukraine Relations include business and management experience and knowledge of Ukrainian language, culture and history. Andrew Boitchenko was directly recruited and appointed on the basis of meeting the competencies, skills and attributes as described above

Eva Himka

Himka has been researching the Ukrainian community in Canada for the past nine years. She is the Project Manager for the Sanctuary: The Spiritual Heritage Documentation Project which documents Byzantine-rite, primary Ukrainian churches across Alberta and Saskatchewan. She has worked in Sydney, Cape Breton, researching the Ukrainian community there and has conducted an oral history project in Ukraine. She is an active member of the Ukrainian community in Edmonton and in her housing cooperative, Hromada Housing Cooperative.
