Calgary Forest Area

Current information on wildfire conditions within the Calgary Forest Area.

Calgary Forest Area - November 14, 2025

Moderate wildfire danger

The wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area is moderate. Mild temperatures and dry conditions have kept the fire danger elevated, especially in areas that have not received recent moisture. Strong winds and very dry vegetation are creating conditions where wildfires can spread quickly. The fire danger will remain elevated until the area receives significant moisture.

Wildfire situation

CWF067 and CWF069 are both now classified as being held. This means that given current weather conditions and resources, the wildfires are not expected to grow beyond their existing boundaries. Firefighters will remain on scene to extinguish hot spots and continue working to bring the fires under control.

Since January 1, 2025, there have been 69 wildfires in the Calgary Forest Area which have burned almost 67 hectares. View wildfire locations, statistics and more on the Alberta Wildfire Status Dashboard.

Wildfire season runs March 1 – October 31.

Tree cutting permits are required to cut firewood and Christmas trees on public land. In Alberta they are free and available online.

A surprising number of wildfires start in the winter. Remember to follow safe burning practices, even after wildfire season ends.
