AB_TRANS.TXT

Agency Reports gINT v. 5 or later:
  Alberta Transportation
  AB TRANS BORING LOG
  AB TRANS STICK LOG

Imperial or Metric units input, Imperial or Metric units output, depending on the value in the Input Units and Output Units fields in the Project table. Note that units-sensitive data embedded within text (e.g., soil/rock descriptions) cannot be converted. The operator must type in the final units in these cases.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT MERGE THE AB_TRANS.GLB INTO YOUR CURRENT LIBRARY. USE AS-IS. See "SPECIAL NOTES" below for details.

REVISION HISTORY
================
19 May 2006:
1. Database structure and reports were set up to store and report densities in Mg/m3. As per the request of Alberta Transporation, this has been changed to kg/m3.
*************************************************

10 January 2005:
1. If test results from one of the child tables of SAMPLE (BASIC, STRENGTH) had the same top depth as another sample, it is possible that the results would plot at the midpoint of the other sample. This has been fixed.
*************************************************

06 January 2005:
1. Pocket Penetrometer graph was printing the full value. Should have printed one half the input value.

2. With all three well columns in use, under certain conditions the right-most well would not print its graphics properly.
*************************************************

12 December 2003:
1. Added Elevation column to the right of the borehole log.
*************************************************

05 December 2002:
1. Updated to version 5 format.

2. Added "UMA" to the consultant list.

3. FIXED PROBLEM: If Input units were Imperial and output in Metric, the plots of strength were incorrect. Note that the input on these values are always kPa even if the Input units are specified as Imperial. Follow the units under the column headers in Input.

4. FIXED PROBLEM: There was no units label on the Vane Shear column header.
*************************************************

01 July 2001:
1. Initial Upload
*************************************************

INCLUDED FILES:
AB_TRANS.GLB
  gINT library file containing:
The two log forms (AB TRANS BORING LOG and AB TRANS STICK LOG) and all auxiliary items: symbols, lookup lists, User System Data items, etc. This is a fully functional library.

AB_TRANS.GDT
gINT project data template. You will clone this file to create new project files. See "SPECIAL NOTES" below for data entry requirements.

AB_TRANS.GPJ
gINT project file containing six boreholes of example data. You can use this file to clarify any input procedure questions by looking at the way the data was entered in the Input application. You can also output this data using the report templates to see what the final output looks like.
*************************************************

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
1. Copy AB_TRANS.GLB to your main gINT program folder (usually C:\Program Files\GINT or C:\Program Files\GINTW).
2. Copy AB_TRANS.GDT to your gINT data template folder (usually C:\Program Files\GINT\DATATMPL or C:\Program Files\GINTW\DATATMPL).
3. Copy AB_TRANS.GPJ to your gINT projects folder (usually C:\Program Files\GINT\PROJECTS or C:\Program Files\GINTW\PROJECTS).
*************************************************

SPECIAL NOTES:
1. The AB_TRANS.GLB library file is meant to be used by itself. DO NOT MERGE into your library. When you are working on an Alberta Transportation project, anywhere in gINT, select the File:System Properties menu item and change the library file to AB_TRANS.GLB. When you want to work on a non-Alberta Transportation project, switch back to your usual library using the same means.

2. Your logo will be printed automatically on the log based on the "Consultant" field in the PROJECT table. This is a lookup list. If your company name is not in the list, please contact us and we will update the list and logo library and supply the updated list and logo to Alberta Transportation.

3. The database is set up to mimic the ESELog database previously used by Alberta Transportation. Per the request of Alberta Transportation, all the tables and fields were left in that structure, even those not used by the two supplied forms. This allows for expansion of data requirements in the future.

For now, following is the list of tables where data need to be entered for the two forms:
  PROJECT
  BOREHOLE
  SAMPLE
  BASIC
  STRENGTH
  SOIL
  COMMENTS
  WELL

Data can be entered in the other tables but will currently not appear on the two forms.
