These are biennial awards which recognize and celebrate the coach developers, coaches, officials and sport volunteers who impact the sport system in Alberta in 4 distinct award categories:

Coach Developer Recognition Awards
These awards recognize and celebrate the significant achievement in developing Alberta’s coaches.
- The Don Watts Coach Developer award recognizes NCCP Multi-Sport Learning Facilitators / Evaluators.
- The Coach Developer – Sport award recognizes NCCP Sport Learning Facilitators / Evaluators.

Coaching Recognition Awards
These awards recognize coaches for their successful and outstanding achievements in developing Alberta’s amateur athletes.

These awards recognize and honour the significant contributions of individuals who devote their volunteer time and effort to the development of sport.

Eligibility
Coach Developer Recognition Awards
These awards are open to Alberta NCCP Learning Facilitators/Evaluators who:
- are trained and/or Certified as a NCCP Learning Facilitator/Evaluator
- actively facilitated NCCP workshops in Alberta for a minimum of 5 years
- are endorsed by the Provincial Sport Association or Provincial Coaching Representative
- consistently contributed to the development of Alberta’s coaches
- are recognized as a leading Learning Facilitator/Evaluator
- contributed to coach training by leading or assisting with activities such as NCCP workshops, coach seminars, development camps or development of coaching resources
- actively participated in professional development by attending clinics, seminars and similar workshops to enhance Learning Facilitator/Evaluator skills
Coaching Recognition Awards
These awards are open to Alberta coaches who:
- actively coached in Alberta for a minimum of 5 years
- consistently contributed to the successful development of Alberta’s young athletes
- are endorsed as a leading coach by his/her provincial sport organization
- coached at provincial, western, national or international level competitions
- achieved a minimum of NCCP Level II certification in the old NCCP or equivalent in the current NCCP (Competition – Introduction), if available, in the sport
- contributed to coaching by leading or assisting with activities such as NCCP clinic facilitation, coaching seminars, provincial development camps or production of resource materials
- actively pursued professional development by attending clinics, seminars and similar workshops to enhance coaching skills
Officiating Recognition Awards
These awards are open to Alberta officials who:
- actively officiated in Alberta for a minimum of 5 years
- endorsed as a leading official by his/her provincial sport organization
- achieved a high level of certification, as defined by the sport
- actively pursued professional development by attending clinics, seminars and similar workshops to enhance officiating skills
- contributed to officiating by leading or assisting with official clinic instruction, seminars, provincial development camps, production of resource materials
- officiated at provincial, regional, national and/or international level competitions
Sport Volunteer Recognition Awards
These awards are open to Alberta sport volunteers who:
- have demonstrated outstanding service or contribution to sport within Alberta at the local/club, regional/zone and/or at the national/international level; this will be the most important factor in the selection process
- have a consistent and continuous record of volunteer service to the sport community of Alberta during the period of nomination
- have been an active volunteer during the last year and must have been a sport volunteer in Alberta for a minimum of 5 years
