Legislated reporting requirements

Section 602.34 of the Municipal Government Act requires that each regional services commission prepare an annual financial information return and a financial information return. These reports, including the auditor's reports and the Excel template for download, should be returned electronically to lgs.update@gov.ab.ca by May 1 of each year.

Annual financial statements

Sample financial statements are available as a reference in the preparation of the 2018 annual audited statements for a commission.

A signed and dated copy of the annual audited financial statements, including the auditors’ report, should be scanned and submitted using the secured link for your regional services commission. To obtain your regional services commission’s unique submission link, please email lgs.update@gov.ab.ca.

Financial Information Return (FIR)

The 2018 financial information return template and the accompanying manual are now available. The template requires Microsoft Excel 2007, or newer, to complete.
