“June 27 is PTSD Awareness Day.

“A recent survey published by the Government of Canada shows that about eight per cent of adults in Canada meet the criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder.

“Moreover, the Government of Canada says up to 10 per cent of Canadian Armed Forces personnel will experience a traumatic event that will eventually lead to PTSD or symptoms related to the disorder.

“Given that reality, it is important we continue to raise awareness about PTSD and communicate the supports available to those suffering.

“As a society, we need to normalize conversations about mental health issues like PTSD so individuals no longer suffer in silence.”
