“May 26 marks World Catholic Education Day, a great opportunity to reflect on, recognize and celebrate Catholic education across the globe.

“Catholic schools have existed in Alberta since the 1800s and have been constitutionally protected since 1905.

“The learning they provide is a vital part of our diverse education system. Faith-based education nurtures the mind and spirit of students, helping set them on the path to success.

“Catholic education permeates faith throughout the whole school experience, including students’ lessons and extracurricular activities.

“Catholic schools are a positive choice for many families, where students focus on mental, physical and spiritual well-being with a Catholic lens – in addition to receiving a high-quality education.

“Alberta’s government supports Catholic education and we thank all of the students, teachers, administrators, trustees and volunteers for modelling the values of compassion, service and hope in everything they do.”
