“Today marks the beginning of Global Entrepreneurship Week, a time to celebrate Alberta’s driven and resilient entrepreneurs who create and sustain the innovative businesses that move our economy and communities forward.

“Entrepreneurs provide much-needed products and services to their communities, contribute to our province's economic growth and employ thousands of Albertans in communities all across the province.

“This week recognizes the important contributions Alberta’s entrepreneurs make in our province and the valuable role they play to inspire the next generation of young entrepreneurs to confidently explore new opportunities and ideas.

“In fact, that’s why Alberta’s government is a proud supporter of Futurpreneur – Canada’s official host for Global Entrepreneurship Week and a supporter of young entrepreneurs in a variety of sectors. Futurpreneur provides a variety of programs and services that contribute to Alberta’s economic recovery and long-term prosperity.

“Our government continues to support entrepreneurs through the recapitalization of the Alberta Enterprise Corporation and investments in its Accelerate Fund, ensuring Alberta startups can easily access funding. Alberta entrepreneurs also have access to Alberta Innovates, which provides access to funding, coaching, expertise and research to help entrepreneurs succeed.

“Please join me in thanking entrepreneurs for everything they do to support our economy, our people and our communities. I encourage you to show your gratitude by finding a way to support a local entrepreneur or business this week.”
