“As Transportation Minister, my top priority is to make sure that everyone who gets on Alberta’s roads gets home safely every day.

“May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. You may already have seen or heard motorcyclists back on the road.

“Drivers play a significant role in motorcycle safety because motorcyclists run a high risk of being injured or killed in a collision. Motorcycles are less stable and visible than cars, which makes it even more important for drivers to be cautious when driving near them. Statistics show almost two-thirds of collisions involving a motorcycle result in injury or death.

“During Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, I want to remind everyone to watch out for motorcycles. Road safety is a shared responsibility between all road users. It’s up to all of us – riders and drivers – to share the road and to drop those numbers to zero.”
