“Today is International Self-Care Day. Observed annually on July 24, today reminds us all that it is important to prioritize our own self-care, seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

“International Self-Care Day urges us to prioritize our own mental, emotional and physical health. Self-care can be as simple as calling a friend, setting aside time for exercise, or taking the first step towards recovery.

“Between the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic uncertainty we face as a province, the past few months have been challenging for all Albertans. Now more than ever, it’s important to remember that part of self-care is reaching out for help if you need it. Talk to a friend, family member or health-care professional.

“There is no single approach to self-care, so do what works for you and remember that the effects are wide-reaching. Maintaining your health and well-being is not only good for you, it also has a positive impact on your loved ones and your community.

“I encourage everyone to practise self-care – today and every day.”
