“Today, on Zero Discrimination Day, we join countries around the world in recognizing the equal dignity and worth of every person. This year’s theme is ‘Zero Discrimination against Women and Girls.’
“Our government is committed to making life better in Alberta by advancing gender equality and ending violence against women and girls. Through campaigns such as the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation and Sexual Violence Awareness Month, we are providing Albertans with the knowledge and tools to end violence against women.
“We are also celebrating and supporting women in the workplace, and investing in programs such as Women Building Futures to create more opportunities for women in non-traditional fields. Alberta is home to an incredible number of women who are leaders and innovators in business. I was proud to declare Nov. 19, 2019, Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.
“The theme of Zero Discrimination Day 2020 speaks to how race, culture, faith and gender overlap to create barriers for diverse groups to fully participate in our world. We will continue working with everyone in Alberta to continue to build a province where all people can fully participate and contribute.
“In an ideal world, all people can pursue their dreams, provide for their families, and feel safe and welcome in every space. Working together, we can make progress to achieve this vision.”
