Detours and traffic delays in Grande Prairie area

Construction projects in and around Grande Prairie will result in detours and travel time delays.

As part of the Highway 43X bypass project, the intersection of Highway 43X and Range Road 63/116 Street in Grande Prairie will be closed for construction of a roundabout starting June 21. Highway 43X at Highway 2 will also be closed.

Detours and signage will be in place for the duration of construction which is expected to be complete in mid-August.

  • East-west traffic will detour to 162 Avenue, 101 Street and 156 Avenue.
  • North-south traffic will detour using Township Road 722.

Just down the road, starting June 25, there will be traffic delays on Highway 43 between Range Roads 70 and 71, for construction of the Highway 43/43X intersection.

  • Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the westbound lanes during the first part of the project and two lanes in each direction in the eastbound lanes for the second part.

The intersection will be controlled with traffic signals and advanced flashing amber warning lights.

Check 511 for regular updates on both projects.
