“Our partners in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are proud to use Alberta’s curriculum in their own classrooms, and I look forward to learning from them as we work to develop new content across six subjects. Working together, we can ensure all students get a quality education that prepares them for their future careers.”

David Eggen, Minister of Education, Alberta

Alberta has invited experts from the Northwest Territories and Nunavut to participate on curriculum working groups in the coming years. Their work will ensure all Alberta students learn about residential schools, treaties and First Nations, Métis and Inuit history, perspectives and contributions. Alberta is also working to close the achievement gap among First Nations, Métis and Inuit students and will look to both provinces for guidance in this important work.

“The Northwest Territories has a longstanding and rewarding history of collaboration across jurisdictions, and we have seen great work emerge from these collaborations. As we continue with early childhood development and education renewal, I believe these opportunities for discussion will only strengthen our work.”

Alfred Moses, Minister of Education, Culture, and Employment, Northwest Territories
