The Alberta government’s commitment to accessible, rider-friendly public transit includes $4.4 million for renewal and expansion of public transit fleets in both the City and County of Grande Prairie, along with support for new public transit infrastructure.

Grande Prairie area projects
- Fleet renewal - low floor buses (Grande Prairie): $1.8 million
- Fleet addition – low floor buses (Grande Prairie): $1.7 million
- Wheelchair accessible buses (Grande Prairie): $240,000
- Electronic fare collection (Grande Prairie): $283,000
- Transit stations and bus zones (Grande Prairie): $250,000
- Low-floor bus and transit infrastructure (County of Grande Prairie): $277,000
These round two approvals bring total GreenTRIP support for public transit in the Grande Prairie region over the first two rounds to more than $5.7 million.
The City of Grande Prairie’s new hub and spoke system and additional buses will make bus routes shorter and faster, and the city estimates it will lead to more than 600 tonnes of annual reductions of greenhouse gases.
The County of Grande Prarie is proposing a public transit route that will provide local service, including to shopping and medical care.
