This release was issued under a previous government.

Mixcor Aggregates Inc. pled guilty to two charges under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and one charge under the Water Act.

In an agreed statement of facts, the company admitted to operating gravel pits contrary to the applicable provincial code of practice for pits by, among the violations, exceeding their registered activity plans at two of their Central Alberta pits and failing to report their contraventions. The incidents occurred between June 2005 and January 2013.

A third charge stemmed from construction of culverts at one operation that discharged water from an end pit lake to a nearby river. The company failed to follow the code of practice for building this outfall structure. The offences occurred between September 2004 and January 2013.

The company is also required by a sentencing order to publish a notice in the Alberta Sand and Gravel Association Newsletter.
