This release was issued under a previous government.

“It is with great pleasure that I congratulate Thomas Lukaszuk on his new role as Ministerial Liaison to the Canadian Forces.  Our government and province have a strong relationship with the armed forces and we are proud of the work that they do in some of the most dangerous places in the world. I know Thomas is proud to carry on the tradition of promoting the province’s exceptional and rich military history.

“I also want to take this opportunity to thank Doug Horner, President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, for the contributions he made as Ministerial Liaison when he was Deputy Premier. Doug has been a strong supporter of the great work our military personnel do across the world.”

In his role as Ministerial Liaison, Deputy Premier Lukaszuk’s duties will include developing, supporting, promoting and sustaining the Government of Alberta’s relationship with the Canadian Forces both Regular and Reserve; assist in ensuring recognition of Albertans who serve in or who have served in the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force; and provide leadership across the Government of Alberta in matters related to the Canadian Forces within Alberta as it relates to provincial regulation, acts or proposed legislation.
