Don Smallwood has been named Director, Alberta Human Rights Commission. His term will be one year commencing on April 2.

“We are very fortunate to have someone with Mr. Smallwood's knowledge and experience join our team, and we look forward to working with him,” said Blair Mason, Q.C., Chief of the Commission and Tribunals of the Alberta Human Rights Commission.

Smallwood holds a Master of Business Administration Degree (Honours) and Advanced Graduate Diploma in Management (Honours). He has served as Director of Business Services with Alberta Justice since 2007 and is currently enrolled in the Arbitration Program with the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society.

“Mr. Smallwood is another strong addition to the Alberta Human Rights Commission. I am confident that his knowledge and experience will continue to drive the mandate of the Alberta Human Rights Commission, to foster equality and reduce discrimination,” said Verlyn Olson, Q.C., Minister of Justice and Attorney General.
