COVID-19 response: Recreation relaunch - Phase 2

The second phase of Alberta's recreation facility relaunch is underway. Current COVID-19 safety guidelines remain in place.

Temporary public land recreation area closures

Waskahigan Public Land Recreation Area access and trail

Effective September 17, 2020 until further notice there is a temporary closure of the Waskahigan public land recreation area access and trail located off Highway 63 near the House River (15-34-77-15-W4M) due to facilities repair and materials disposal.

Temporary trail closures

Ghost Trail Improvements

Effective October 1 to 15, 2020 there is a temporary closure to the truck trail between markers 209 and 206 in Ghost Public Land Use Zone.

The closure is in effect to:

  • complete trail repairs
  • install access controls

McLean Bridge Installations

Effective September 1 to 30, 2020 there is a temporary closure to the truck trail between markers 570 and 496 in McLean Creek Public Land Use Zone.

The closure is in effect to:

  • install truck bridges

Livingston Public Land Use Zone - Isolation Creek Trail

Effective August 10 to 31, 2020 sections of Isolation Creek Trail are temporarily closed for trail improvement construction. The trail closure is between trail markers 315 to 318.

Permanent trail closures

McLean Creek Off-Highway Vehicle Public Land Use Zone (Silvester Creek Trail)

Effective October 26, 2018, a Permanent Trail Closure has been issued in the McLean Creek Public Land Use Zone (PLUZ) for the Silvester Creek Trail due to a trail reclamation project.

Pursuant to Section 184 (1) of the Public Lands Administration Regulation AR 187/2011, public access to the Silvester Creek Trail is forbidden. For additional details, see the attached Public Advisory and map.
