Bighorn Backcountry information
Visit Bighorn Backcountry for area closures, trail updates and maps pertaining to the 6 public land use zones that make up the Bighorn Backcountry.
Temporary closure: Cowlick Creek Staging Area
The Cowlick Creek staging area, located east of Grande Cache off Highway 40, will be temporarily closed to public access due to required site maintenance work, effective August 26, 2021 until further notice.
Access to the Mount Louie and Cowlick Creek trail systems will be temporarily unavailable. Alternate access to the Willmore Wilderness Park is at Sulphur Gates and Rock Lake Provincial Park.

Crown land closures
Vacant Crown land - Southwest Section 29 - Township 65 - Range 2- W4M (Former Shelter Bay site)
Temporary area closure due to reclamation work.
Effective Immediately: July 15, 2021
Pursuant to Sections 45 and 48 of the Public Lands Administration Regulation, access is forbidden to the following:

Temporary closure: Waskahigan Forest Campground
The Waskahigan Forest Campground, located adjacent to the Waskahigan Public Land Recreation Area, is closed to public access until further notice due to damage from a flood event in June 2020. The area is located East of Highway 63 near the House River (15-34-77-15-W4M).
