Kareema Batal

Kareema Batal is a food scientist and entrepreneur. She holds a B.Sc. in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Alberta and has been in the food industry for the past 10 years.

Kareema sits on the Board of Directors of Alberta Food Matters and is a small business mentor with the Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta. Kareema is passionate about developing our local food economy and supporting a diversified food system that can serve our communities and reduce food insecurity in Alberta. She is the Co-Founder of Neo Juicery.

Sharilyn Nagina

Sharilyn Nagina has a general litigation practice with an emphasis on civil and commercial litigation. She has extensive experience with complex contractual disputes, civil claims, oppression claims, breach of trust, breach of fiduciary duties and employment-related issues.

Sharilyn has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and participated in arbitrations and mediations. She has also appeared before the Surface Rights Board, Employment Insurance Appeals Commission, Alberta Human Rights Commission, and Employment Standards Branch.

John Whaley

John Whaley was first elected to the AAMDC Board of Directors in November 2007. He has been on the Leduc County Council for 17 years, where he has served 10 years as Reeve/Mayor until he retired in October 2017. Up until 2013, John was an agricultural producer and has an agricultural diploma from Kirkley Hall Agricultural College.

John has been involved with a variety of community organizations, such as the Nisku-Leduc Rotary Club and 4-H Clubs. John is passionate and excited to be a part of Leduc County, a diverse and dynamic region.
