Kenneth Bird

Mr. Kenneth Bird has served as a board member on the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board since June 2011. He is the operations manager for Supreme Steel Edmonton, the largest privately owned steel fabricator in Canada with a strong commitment and long history of supporting apprenticeship and the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program. He previously served on the Advisory Board for the Canadian Center for Welding and Joining at the University of Alberta. He is a journeyman welder with an Interprovincial Standards Red Seal endorsement. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Aerospace Engineering from Ryerson University, a Graduate Diploma in Management and an Executive MBA from Athabasca University.

Shawna Boreen

Ms. Shawna Boreen has extensive experience in the crane industry and is the special projects manager at Sarens Canada, which is a global leader in heavy lift and engineered transport. She has been a member of the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board since May 2016. She is a member of the Board of Governors of the Crane Rental Association of Canada and is on the Audit Sub-Committee of the Board of Directors of Women Building Futures. She is the past chair, vice-chair, treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the Crane Rental Association of Canada. She earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and has completed a series of professional development programs/courses related to supervisory leadership, project management and construction safety.

Delanie Coleman

Ms. Delaine Coleman is the electrical foreman with Jacobs Industrial Services. She is a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 424 and is the chair of the Sisters of 424 Women’s Committee. She is a past educator with experience working with a diverse cross-section of learners. Her teaching experience ranges from elementary to adult education with an emphasis on special education programs. Ms. Coleman has a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Lethbridge and obtained her certification as a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician.

Richard Daley

Mr. Richard Daley is a chef and owner/operator of Earl’s Restaurant in Lethbridge. He has served as a member of the Cook Provincial Apprenticeship Committee since 2003 and was the presiding officer of the committee until his appointment to the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board in May 2014. He is currently a member on the Lethbridge College Culinary Advisory Committee. He holds an Alberta trade certificate in the cook trade as well as a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration.

Shannon Eitzen

Ms. Shannon Eitzen has served as a board member on the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training board since May 2014. She holds a trade certificate with an Interprovincial Standards Red Seal endorsement in the hairstylist trade. She has been the owner/operator of Tangles Hair Studio and Day Spa in Red Deer since 1995. She has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry including training and supervising apprentices. She has also served as a member of the Hairstylist Local Apprenticeship Committee in Red Deer.

Gursewak Mann

Mr. Gursewalk Mann is the construction coordinator at Sherritt International. He is the treasurer of the Punjab Cultural Association of Alberta and the Vice President of the Progressive Peoples Foundation of Edmonton. He is a journeyman plumber, B Class gasfitter and a journeyman pipefitter. He is currently enrolled at NAIT to complete the Business for Journeymen Management diploma.

Craig Mathes

Mr. Craig Mathes has more than twenty years’ experience in the mechanical contracting and service industry and is currently employed as Service Manager with Gateway Mechanical Services Inc. He is responsible for operations in Southern Alberta and Yellowknife, NWT. In this capacity, he supervises approximately 100 technicians in various trades and coordinates training for apprentices and journeypersons. He has served as a member on the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board since May 2014. He is also a board member on the UA National HVAC Training Advisory Board.

Mike Yorke

Mr. Mike Yorke has 27 years’ industry experience and holds Red Seal Steamfitter and Provincial Gasfitter certifications. He is currently employed as the manager of labour relations for North West Redwater Partnership. He is a board member with the Association for Construction Workforce Acquisition and a committee chair with the Construction Owners Association of Alberta. He is a past member with the Northern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association and a non-voting member with Trade Winds to Success.
