Premier’s Advisory Task Force on Ukraine

Members will identify ways to support Ukrainian evacuees coming to Alberta with their financial, physical and spiritual needs.

Overview

The Premier’s Advisory Task Force on Ukraine will engage with Alberta’s Ukrainian community, not-for-profits and organizations that are assisting Ukrainian newcomers to ensure the appropriate settlement supports are available. 

The task force will identify ways Alberta’s government can further help Ukrainian evacuees settle and integrate into communities across Alberta.

This work will ensure the thousands of Ukrainians who have fled the war in their homeland have a smooth and welcoming transition to Alberta.

Mandate

The task force will:

  • hold roundtables across the province to hear directly from the Ukrainian community
  • engage with not-for-profits and organizations assisting Ukrainian newcomers
  • provide both immediate and long-term recommendations in a final report

Task force members

The task force includes leaders with deep roots in the Ukrainian community from not-for-profits, organizations and government departments.

  • Carol Slukynski, founder, Helping Ukrainians in Fort Saskatchewan
  • Vitaliy Milentyev, chairman of the supervisory board at the National Depository Ukraine
  • Jenn Schmidt-Rempel, councillor, City of Lethbridge
