Ethane

Natural gas

Natural Gas Infrastructure (PDF, 5.9 MB) 2015, shows operating natural gas wells, facilities and pipelines in the province.

Natural Gas HUB (PDF, 953 KB) 2015 illustrates the Alberta Hub which is part of a North American network linking 500,000 kilometres of pipelines to deliver more than half of North America’s combined natural gas demand.

Oil sands

Alberta's Oil Sands Leased Area (PDF, 2.7 MB) 2018 shows the total oil sands areas and percentage of the area under lease.

AER Designated Oil Sands Area (PDF, 1.8 MB) 2017 shows the designated oil sands areas with the related Deeper Rights Reversion Zone Designation (DRRZD).

Specialized maps

Zone Designations (ZD) and Deeper Rights Reversion (DRRZD)

Zone Designations (ZD) and Deeper Rights Reversion (DRRZD) Library

ZDs and DRRZDs are used to describe mineral rights for agreements administration. DRRZD allows for petroleum and natural gas rights below the base of the of the deepest productive zone to be deleted from an agreement and returned to the land bank. ZDs describe specific intervals or zones proven capable of producing gas in paying quantities.
