Muhammad Yaseen was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Calgary-North, on April 16, 2019. He previously served as Associate Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism. In addition, he previously served as a member of the following Standing Committees: Resource Stewardship, Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund, and Legislative Offices.

He holds a bachelor of science in petroleum engineering from the University of Wyoming, a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Calgary and a master of business administration from the University of Phoenix. Mr. Yaseen is a professional engineer and is a member of APEGA, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.

Prior to being elected, Mr. Yaseen was an active member of his community, volunteering with the Canadian Red Cross and the Pakistan Canada Association for many years. He has also contributed his time to Junior Achievement, the United Way, the Mustard Seed, MOSAIC Volunteers and the Calgary Food Bank over the years.

Mr. Yaseen was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in November 2012 by then Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, the Honourable Donald S. Ethell.

He enjoys reading, walking and volunteering and speaks English, Urdu and Punjabi.
