Overview
The Math Bursary Program intends to encourage current and future Alberta K to 12 teachers to take a qualifying math course and strengthen their knowledge, skill, and confidence in teaching the subject. This bursary is for teachers already working in the school system and Bachelor of Education students at an Alberta post-secondary institution.
The bursary is a financial award of $1,000 that recipients may use to recover course costs and related expenses for successfully completing a pre-approved bursary-eligible course. Recipients will not have to repay any unspent funding. If the bursary does not cover all course expenses incurred, no additional funds will be awarded for that course.
After you apply
We will send you an email within 21 business days if you are pre-approved to receive a bursary. This email will contain instructions on what to do after successfully completing your course.
Once you are pre-approved, you must register for the course specified in your application and complete it within 12 months.
If your application was incomplete and you fail to respond or submit required documents, your application will be deleted after 30 days.
After you complete the course
You must complete the course confirmation process within 90 days of successfully completing the course. Detailed instructions for this are included in the email notice of pre-approval.
We will mail your bursary cheque to you within 4 weeks of receiving your confirmation package.
Do not ask post-secondary institutions to send your official transcript directly to Alberta Education. Attach your transcript to your Confirmation of Course Completion Form and mail it to us.
Contact the Math Bursary Program Manager if you lose your math bursary cheque.
