Why is government changing the way it funds post-secondary institutions?

The new approach will ensure tax dollars are used effectively and responsibly and inspire ongoing change and improvement in the post-secondary system.

The new outcomes-based funding model will give taxpayers more value for every dollar spent on the post-secondary system by motivating post-secondary institutions to improve services and ensure students have the skills and knowledge they need to find rewarding careers.

Government will incent post-secondary institutions to meet enrolment targets, operate within their budgets and provide jobs-focused training and skills.
