Appeals

You can appeal an Ignition Interlock Program (IIP) decision to the Alberta Transportation Safety Board (ATSB). Examples of decisions that can be appealed are:

  • your application to participate in the IIP is denied
  • your IIP participation term is extended
  • you are removed from the IIP
  • you are denied an exemption from participating in the Mandatory Ignition Interlock Program

As per section 45 (2) of the Traffic Safety Act, an appeal must be made within 30 days of the date you received the Notice of Suspension.

You must purchase an Application for Hearing – Alberta Ignition Interlock Appeals (REG1066) at any Alberta registry agent.

For more information, see the Ignition Interlock Program information sheet.
