Introduction
The forage quality of harvested and stored forage can vary greatly. The quality difference has more to do with plan maturity and harvest and storage management than with species. Quality levels decrease from the time forage is cut in the field until it is consumed by livestock. How the forage is handled and stored determines how much the quality decreases.
In this section, find best practices for storage of silage and hay. For more information, the Alberta Forage Manual offers producers comprehensive information on storage and other forage topics.
