From January 22 to 24 2020, 6 agri-food companies from Alberta participated in the event to explore export opportunities in the Pacific Northwest market. Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AF) organized the program in collaboration with the Government of British Columbia (B.C.), Global Affairs Canada, and Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership.

The 2-day program featured a day of seminars on topics including customs and entry into the U.S., identifying key market channels, working with a broker and distributor and a day of store tours at major regional chains. During the store tours, companies met with store managers and buyers to learn about their buying process and what they look for in products.

In addition to Alberta’s 6 companies, companies from B.C. and Saskatchewan participated. The companies represented a range of food and beverage products, including snacks, seafood, natural health products, craft beer and spirits from across Western Canada.

“This event was a great opportunity for companies who are new or looking to export to equip themselves with the knowledge and contacts necessary to enter the Pacific Northwest market,” said Steven Jarvis, international initiatives officer with AF.
