Eligible applicants
Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to:
- community not-for-profit groups registered (and in good standing) under one of the following:
- Societies Act
- Agricultural Societies Act
- parliamentary acts
- non-registered not-for-profit groups with letters of support from your provincial sport association and/or your municipality
- municipalities, First Nations and Metis Settlements
- educational institutions
Applications will be reviewed on their individual merit based on:
- alignment with ministry priorities
- the resources available
Ineligible applicants
The following applicants cannot apply for this grant:
- for-profit organizations
- sports in which athletes directly use and control motorized propulsion as a component of competition (for example: automobiles, motorcycles, powerboats, aircraft, snow machines, etc.)
Eligible events
Priority will be given to:
Event | Maximum funding amount | Conditions |
---|---|---|
Minor international cups/events | $10,000 | Must be sanctioned by the international governing body and include no less than 4 countries/nations. |
Canadian/North American championships/cups | $10,000 | Those that include representation from no less than 7 provinces/territories/states (teams or individuals may have earned the right through playoffs to represent more than one province/territory/state). Such events require sanctioning by the national organization. |
Western Canadian championships/cups | $5,000 | Those that include representation from no less than 4 provinces/territories. Such events require sanctioning by the provincial organization. |
Ineligible events
Annual community-based or provincial events are not eligible for funding.
