COVID-19 remains a public health threat. Mandatory measures are in effect provincewide.
Overview
At Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP), every effort is made to ensure our water, air and land are safe for all Albertans to enjoy. Through education and prevention programs, we work with Albertans to encourage compliance with our environmental legislation.
We recognize that Albertans want to know when their water, air or land are at risk. Our Compliance and Enforcement Public and Media Release Criteria outlines when and how the department releases relevant information to Albertans.
When individuals, companies, or municipalities fail to comply with our legislation, the department has several options depending on the offence to ensure compliance including:
- warning letters
- tickets and administrative penalties
- enforcement, environmental protection, and water management orders
- prosecution
