Post-secondary courses taken at an institution either inside or outside Alberta are not typically equated to credits for the Alberta High School Diploma but may be evaluated for and applied toward the High School Equivalency Diploma. However, recognizing the importance of supporting transitions from high school to post-secondary and/or the workplace, dual credit programming creates opportunities for high school students to earn both high school and post-secondary credits for the same coursework. As outlined in the Alberta Dual Credit Framework and the Dual Credit Implementation Guide, completion of authorized dual credit courses may be considered for credit toward the Alberta High School Diploma or the Certificate of High School Achievement.
