Supports unemployed and under-employed Albertans pursuing careers in the trucking industry.
The Driving Back to Work program (DBTW) supports unemployed and under-employed Albertans in obtaining a Class 1 driver’s licence by covering more than 90% of training and testing costs.
As of November 7, 2022, eligibility for the DBTW program has expanded to allow more Albertans to access the program. Albertans who are working fewer than 29 hours a week on average per year are eligible for this program, not just those who are unemployed. The expanded eligibility helps more Albertans access support to start careers as commercial drivers, which will help reduce labour shortages in the transportation and warehousing industry.
