As a former hockey mom and billet mom for the AJHL for 7 years, I have been deeply impacted by this tragedy. I find myself mourning for complete strangers and sending messages of hope and healing for the injured. I can not even begin to imagine how difficult this has been on everyone directly impacted, but I would like you to know that you are deeply cared about who ever you are and where ever you are. I have been so impressed by the creative ways that people have found to send message of support. It has been a great example of just how ingrained hockey is in our Canadian culture and makes me proud to be Canadian. Watching other countries step up takes things to a whole new level for me and is simply overwhelming. May you find small comforts in the many amazing memories that you have of some amazing young men, their coaching staff and the woman who tended to their on ice injuries.

As a past hockey mom and now a hockey grandmother I know very well the worrisome thoughts every time the team, coaches and extended personnel left for a trip. No one says good-bye thinking you will never see your loved one alive again. This tragic accident has left so many people across the world paralyzed with grief and despair and I am one of them. I cannot bear to hear about it without breaking into tears. I am so proud that the hockey communities have come together to share and acknowledge the heartbreak you are going through. God Bless you and keep you and be with you in this your time of loss and need.

I can only imagine the many questions, blame and what If's going through everyone's mind right now. At times like this we often wonder if we did enough and if we maybe could have done more. I would like to say, you did everything and anything you could have done. There is nothing else that you could have been done. I can only imagine your pain and I am deeply sorry. I pray that you find the strength to grieve for your loved one and when it is time to celebrate their life, you find joy and comfort in the memories shared overtime in the knowledge and understanding that "to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.." Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8.

This tragic loss of life for so many coming into their prime of life has touched so many of us to our core. In hearing the stories that have been in the news, my family has been moved by what a special group of young men, coaches and team-related officials this must have been. Coach Darcy sounded like a special guy for such a time as this was in the lives of these who were in the accident, it reminds one that no one is guaranteed tomorrow and how important things like faith and love are in the present.

Our deepest condolences to everyone who has been impacted by this terrible tragedy. To the team, their parents, billet families, siblings and everyone whose life has been depleted by their loss. As children we rode on buses. As parents we put our daughters on buses to sporting events. As grandparents we will put out grandsons on buses to hockey (we all go to tournaments for the oldest already but bus trips are in his near future). Our family wore jerseys yesterday and Grampa and Grayson have hockey sticks on our front steps in respect. Changes are being looked at already because of this great loss. The impact these young men made on their world and all the people in it has been and will continue to be immense. They will not be forgotten.

To all of you affected by this tragedy - we are so sorry and pass our most heartfelt condolences to you all. Having lost loved ones myself, nothing prepares you for it and like many have said, all we can do is go through it. But please know that we walk with you and hold you in our hearts. I was thinking about my mom tonight, who I lost 7 years ago. I looked up at the stars and felt her near me. It came to me that I think that those who have passed from our lives wouldn't want to see us carry the sadness so much that weighs us down; I know that the sadness never leaves, but the one thing I think our loved ones want is for us to hold onto the life we have, to cherish it, and to live a good life - do the things that make you happy, try new things, experience, love, move forward. I hope this doesn't come across as unfeeling. I know right now you're feeling numb and horrible. I just want you to know that we are here to support you and send you much love and encouragement as you go through this terrible time.

Words can not even start to express the sadness this brings across our Nation. To loose so many talented people in one instance is unimaginable. Seeing the photo of the three young men laying in the hospital holding each other's hand broke my heart and at the same time shows the incredible bond that is created amongst them. Stay strong and let's all take a moment to reflect and pray for all those affected by this terrible tragedy ????????????

Hearing the news, it is hard to fathom the loss of so many so soon. Growing up, my brothers played hockey and I spent many hours at the rink watching their games. The long trips for hockey games are a fact of life for young players all over. It is far too easy to imagine people close to me in my life being there. I send my condolences to all those impacted by this loss, and my encouragement is sent to all those struggling in the aftermath of this incident.
