Overview

These awards recognize and celebrate the significant achievements, performances and contributions of Alberta’s amateur teams and athletes. The award winners are outstanding role models who inspire other Albertans to higher achievements at the recreational or competitive level.

Categories for nominees under 21 years of age include:

  • Junior Male
  • Junior Female
  • Junior Team

Categories for nominees 21 years of age and older include:

  • Open Male
  • Open Female
  • Open Team

Eligibility

These awards are open to Alberta athletes and teams who:

  • primarily live in Alberta, or the majority of the team’s athletes must reside in Alberta
    • athletes, or teams with athletes, who live temporarily in other locations for education or training purposes and are products of the Alberta sport development system are eligible for nomination
    • a significant portion (at least 5 years) of the athlete’s or team’s sport development must have occurred in Alberta
  • have represented Canada internationally in the previous calendar year (2019)
    • in the Team categories, the team must have represented Alberta or Canada nationally or internationally in the previous calendar year (2019)
