“On Holocaust Remembrance Day, or Yom HaShoah, we pay tribute to the memory of the Jewish people murdered by the Nazis and their allies. The legacy of the Holocaust is always with us. The remains of the death camps stand in mute witness to evil and the Jewish people themselves continue to push back against the forces of antisemitism.
“The systematic murder of six million European Jews was the result of the Nazi regime’s diabolical ‘final solution’ but was only possible because of centuries of European antisemitism. Sadly, we continue to see evidence around the world of both the ‘old’ antisemitism and the ‘new’ antisemitism that seeks to destroy the state of Israel as the collective Jew.
“We must stand together to openly oppose this bigotry, recognizing that antisemitism is history’s most durable and pernicious form of hatred.”
