“Over the next couple of days, Muslims in Alberta and across the world will celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on 12 Rabi Al-Awal, AD 570.

“These types of occasions bring joy and strengthen the communities of those who participate in them. They also add to the diversity of this province and help make Alberta a more welcoming and inclusive place.

“Alberta recognizes Islamic Heritage Month in October, which means this year Mawlid-al Nabi is also an opportunity for Muslims to celebrate their traditions and contributions to society, and for all Albertans to learn more about our Muslim neighbours.

“I wish peace and happiness to all Muslims as they observe the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).”
